Fondation BCV deuxième pilier will soon be known as AVENA
On 1 January 2020, Fondation BCV deuxième pilier will adopt a new trade name, AVENA. The Fund is one of the leading occupational pension funds in French-speaking Switzerland, with total assets recently surpassing the CHF 2bn mark. It began operations in 1979, before the Swiss Federal Act on Occupational Retirement, Survivors', and Disability Pension Plans took effect, and is therefore celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.

This new name symbolizes the Fund’s confidence going forward and will foster its continued growth across French-speaking Switzerland. Over the past ten years, the Fund has doubled the number of individual members and tripled the size of its balance sheet. At the end of 2018, it had some 16,000 individual members and around 700 member companies.
Member companies were informed of the change on 5 November at a Fund-organized event featuring the following speakers: Andréa Maechler (member of the Swiss National Bank’s governing board), Luc Ferry (former French Minister of Youth, Education and Research) and François Pugliese (Chairman of the Pension Board and CEO of ELITE SA).

The Foundation
BCV set up the Fund to meet local companies’ occupational pension needs. This was a pioneering step, since the Swiss Federal Occupational Pensions Act (known as the LPP in French) didn’t come into force until 1 January 1985 – some seven years later.
We are now one of the leading pension providers in French-speaking Switzerland.
